Sound Level at Property Line

Comparative Benchmark:
Sounds like a quiet residential neighborhood.
This is quieter than typical daytime ambient levels (45 dBA).
How this Math works:
Sound travels as energy in spherical waves. In a free space environment, every doubling of distance from the source reduces sound intensity by approximately 6 decibels.
This simulator uses the standard hemispherical acoustic decay model: dB = dBsource - 20 log10(distance). Acoustic buffers (like physical sound walls or earthen soil berms) physically deflect and absorb sound waves, adding an additional direct mathematical reduction (attenuation) before the waves reach surrounding property lines.
